Et requiem over materialismen

Tre ordløse artister tager publikum med ind i et fascinerende univers. En symbiose af kroppe og skrot. De benytter somatisk bevægelse, akrobatik, eksperimentel cirkusteknik, Butoh og den japanske bondageteknik Shibari. Og kilovis af metalskrot. En teske og fem gram kridtstøv får en afgørende funktion.

Instruktøren og performeren Tuomas Vuorinen mestrer objektmanipulation. Hans dragende og mystiske værker er brutalt skræmmende, men forløsende. Her får han selskab af to cirkusakrobater samt live-lyd-collage-mageren Barbora Silhanova, der guider os gennem forestillingen med sin hypnotiske guzheng-musik. Et balancerende mesterværk.

Transparent Surfaces is a contemporary circus piece drawing from strong juxtapositions. Performers throw themselves into a state between madness and vulnerability with the help of somatic movement, acrobatics and scrap metal.

The thematic starting points of the piece are ownership and the mechanisms by which ownership builds our identity and relates to the way we think about good life. The work is inpired by Butoh dance, Shibari, shivering bodies and sounds of metal.

In this performance, which explores matter and ownership relations, ownership is intertwined as an integral element of the human way of being. As the boundaries between bodies joined together and inanimate matter grow darker, it is difficult to tell who is moving whom.

Building on experimental circus technique, this piece is influenced by butoh dance and shibari, metallic noises and trembling bodies. Dreamlike guzheng provides commentary on the piece in its entirety.

Blind Gut Company is an adventurous contemporary circus group that creates performances that invite critical and creative thought for audiences of all ages. Transparent Surfaces is the group’s sixth piece.

Director Tuomas Vuorinen is a circus artist and director who specialises in object manipulation. Through his work, he want to develop circus towards becoming a form of performing art that conveys a diverse human image, is expressive, and comments on its own time. In the piece, Tuomas is joined on stage by circus artists Aino Savolainen and Jere Virta, as well as musician Barbora Silhanova.
